Moons of Pluto Studios

Publishing Company

Our Philosophy

The Moons of Pluto's printing and distribution systems are the newest and most exciting frontier in the publishing industry.  They enable us to bring to you, the reader, the most robust, highest quality reading material.

Over the past century and a half, publishing companies have relied on an expensive game of guessing and gambling to determine what products to bring to market.  The result has been precious few great books to inform and delight readers.  There have been unfortunate consequences for the ecosystem as well.  Literally millions of unwanted books are returned to publishers every year and warehoused at great cost to the environment in fuel for transportation by truck and power to supply vast warehouses.  Beautiful living trees are, of course, the first casualty of outmoded publishing practices.

The Moons of Pluto will never gamble on guesses.  Our editorial staff works round the clock to bring you only the best - but reader demand is the only input driving our presses.

At the Moons of Pluto, we retain all that's best about reading.  There is no electronic substitute for the feel of a good book in a reader's hands.  But we'll never jam our store shelves-or warehouses - with unwanted junk by trying to out-guess real readers.

Readers run the show at the Moons of Pluto.  Let us know what you think about our books.  The wonders of modern electronics, used wisely, stimulate the creative process.  You just might find your editoral input included in a future edition of a Moons of Pluto book.

    Clearwater Sun Article

A small private press specializing in fine book production, the Moons of Pluto goal is to revitalize the flagging panorama of pedestrian publishing.  In an effort to bring new ideas to the industry, the Moons of Pluto begins each issue with a  beta version.  These limited editions are actually scarcer and will be more valueable than first editions.

The Moons of Pluto trademark shows the planetoid Pluto and its nearby moon Charon.  Two newly discovered moonlets, Hydra and Nix hover off to one side.  The whole image is shown inside a magnifying glass to represent the fact that Pluto and its moons are not visible to the naked eye.

All of the work has been superb.

The Moons of Pluto Trademark
Like the newly discovered moons of Pluto, Nix and Hydra, the small specks of light shown above, the Moons of Pluto press has risen to acclaim in a sea of large planets and stars.  In an interview with the Clearwater Sun newspaper, the owner, Kathy Baird, said:
"....With the recent decline in the economy, new small-business models are taking the lead in countering the corporate interests that led us to this low point in our nation's fiscal life with greed-driven exportation of American jobs and bailouts for the rich.
"Our small press is taking a leading role in reinventing the American economy, using good old-fashioned Yankee ingenuity."
